My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

About Lody Levy

I believe that we can all live a meaningful and fulfilling life despite the most difficult circumstances. It is possible to move beyond low self-esteem and feelings of anxiety and  depression towards contentment and happiness.

I provide a personalised, confidential and supportive space in which to safely explore your difficulties and  gain an understanding of the context in which they arise.

I trained in psychology in South Africa, with further post-graduate training in England and Australia. I am a Psychotherapist, Art therapist , Mental Health Social Worker and Meditation teacher and have over 35 years’ experience of supporting people to live more fulfilling lives.

What Can Lody Offer You?

I offer a range of different therapeutic approaches :

Counselling and psychotherapy:

Counselling focuses on your current situation and the challenges that you are facing whilst psychotherapy provides insight into the present situation by inviting an exploration of past experiences, belief systems and habits.

Art Therapy:

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that engages the creative imagination by exploring a variety of different art materials in the session to create images that reflect concerns or challenges you are facing.  The creative impulse is a natural part of being human and art therapy harnesses this and can provide a different perspective on your current situation which can be inspiring and healing.

Dream interpretation:

The dream is the small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul”
― Carl Jung

Working with dreams in therapy enables a connection to the unconscious part of you that is wise and grounded and can be a valuable guide in living a meaningful life.

Mindfulness and Meditation:

Mindfulness is a way of engaging with the present moment without judgement so that we can assess whether our responses are helpful or unhelpful, skillful or unskillful. This can be empowering as it enables us to choose our responses in any given situation.

Meditation in therapy is a guided practice that invites the client to connect to their body in a calm and grounded way so that anxiety and overwhelming feelings can be contained and processed safely.

What happens in a session?:

Each session is an opportunity for you to explore what is most relevant to you at the time.  This will naturally involve reflecting on previous sessions and any insights gained.  I believe that the relationship between the client and therapist is what is most important and that it must be one of trust, warmth, respect and integrity.  There is the opportunity in every session for guided meditation, art therapy and reflecting on recent dreams.

I believe that self-compassion is an essential part of the therapeutic process as it provides a foundation of acceptance for ourselves just as we are, and then we are more able to move towards being kinder and more generous in the world.
