About Craig.

Craig is an instructor (and student!) of the Daoist tradition called Ba Men Da Xuan, under the direct tutelage of the guardian of the tradition, Mr. Serge Augier.

He started exploring self-cultivation methods in 2003, and accumulated significant experience training with some of the brightest minds in the world in practices such as traditional martial arts, gymnastics strength training, stretch therapy, natural movement and more before joining the Da Xuan tradition in 2014. Having a lot of experience with many different modern modalities brings a unique vantage point to his traditional studies. He aims to present my teachings in a simple, clear way so that they are accessible to everyone.

What Can Craig Offer You?

Craig teaches weekly classes and monthly workshops at BCNTC, and also offers private consultations, training and traditional healing nearby in Paddington.
Classes invite students to create an ongoing daily practice, with exercises that are designed to promote deep relaxation and coordination; build an aligned structure by confronting and strengthening weak links; and ground us firmly in reality. Seated exercises promote vitality and meditations calm the mind and make it available.
Workshops provide an opportunity to dive deeper into a certain aspect of the Da Xuan tradition, such as qi gong, internal alchemy, or meditation, with theory and exercises that the student can then take with them to practice and develop over the following months and years.

What Happens During a Session?

Classes focus on development of personal practice. While we will occasionally come together to learn a new practice as a group, most classes will centre around each student working individually on exercises specific to them, getting corrections from Craig and learning new exercises as needed. This type of training works best if students are practicing at home between classes, and tips and theory on establishing a daily practice routine will also be taught  in class.
The basics class will predominantly be exploration of standing, walking and partner exercises (in the flavour of qi gong and tai chi), while the seated class will focus on breathing and meditative practices.
All are welcome and no particular background or level of skill is needed. Craig teaches everyone from extremely athletic youths to elderly people recovering from serious illness, and exercises are tailored to fit the level of the student.
